Car Parking - What do I need to know?
If it is dry enough we will park on the field where the centre has a reinforced area for parking on. If the ground is soft we will park on site, this will just require some considerate parking and will likely involve blocking each other in. Volunteer's will be on hand to help and direct.

I'm arriving by public transport, how can I get to the centre?
There is a taxi rank at the bus station in Keswick and you are welcome to make a post on the Dip-Fest FB page to ask other particpants to collect you.

What swim kit do I need to bring?
For our full day of swmming you'll need 4 separate costumes or shorts and, ideally, 4 pairs of water shoes. This is to protect the biosecurity.
If you dont have 4 sets, youll need to bring water with you on the coach to rinse between dips.

Is there a drying room?
Yes.

Responsibility when on site and in the water.
Les is not attending this event in his capacity as a swim guide. We must ALL take care of and look out for one another in and out of the water. Do not take unnecessary risks.
If you feel it necessary, please get your own insurance in case of accident, injury or death to cover yourself for the duration of the event.

What clothing and footwear will I need?
Dress for the weather and come prepared. Decent footwear for our (short walks in) is essential. Always have waterproofs with you too.

What kit do I need to bring for kayaking?
Clothing you don’t mind getting wet (t-shirt, jumper, fleece, leggings, joggers) similar to the gorge scrambling activity (see above) but we don’t use wetsuits for kayaking but water shoes are fine.

What kit do I need for gorge scrambling?
Just a base layer (some examples are - underwear, thermals, skins, leggings, sports tops,) for wearing under the Centres wetsuits and a pair of trainers they don’t mind getting wet on their feet but not wetsuit shoes or wellies.

I'm not doing Gorge Scrambling or Kayaking, what can I do?
Visit Keswick, chill at the centre or do a short self led walk. The centre can make suggestions on where to go.

Is bedding provided?
Yes

Are towels provided?
No.

Can I store fresh food or drink
There is a small fridge for participants to use during the event for milk and small fresh items. The space in it is on a first come first served basis.

Are hairdryers available?
No

Can mobile phones be charged on site?
Yes, not all bedrooms have plug sockets, but there are sockets in the halls and communal rooms. Bring an extension lead.

Can valuables be left securely on site?
Bedrooms can be locked but there is only one key per room so it needs anyone sharing to communicate so someone’s not locked out for too long.
The front door to the building has a coded lock on it so can be locked and everyone told the code for gaining entry.

Will there be a hot drink making facility at the centre?
Yes, an instant hot water Urn is available. If you wish to make a flask for your day, please do this before breakfast.

Do I need a headtorch?
Yes, bring a head torch. There is very little light pollution around the centre and local area, and we may do a night dip one night on site too!

Is there a bar on site?
Yes, there is. There is also a pub 15 minutes walk away. Dont forget your headtorch

Hot drinks
Please bring your own tea bags / coffee etc and milk. Please also bring a mug or flask too. If you have an aero press or Cafitiere youll need to bring this for fresh coffee too.

Dogs
No dogs on site unless in the case of assistance dogs - with relevant paperwork.

Children
Children over 12 are welcome but must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times. The full per person cost applies for children.
